Fall Sport Strong - Preventing Injuries This Season

October 12, 20252 min read

Fall sports season is here — and whether your athlete is charging down the field or you’re gearing up for your own workouts, one thing is certain:

A strong season depends more on preparation than recovery.

Most injuries don’t happen from big hits. They happen gradually — from tight hips, weak cores, poor posture, or skipped warm-ups. The good news? Most sideline setbacks are completely preventable with just a few foundational habits.

Warm Up Right — Not Just Quickly

A good warm-up should wake up the nervous system, not just break a light sweat. Try this order before practices or games:

  1. Mobility: Hip circles, arm swings, thoracic rotations

  2. Activation: Planks, glute bridges, banded walks

  3. Movement Prep: Light sprints, shuffles, or jumps

This progression tells your body, “Get ready — real movement is coming.”

Strong Core = Strong Knees, Hips & Shoulders

The core isn’t just abs. It’s your body’s entire support system — including the lower back and glutes. When the core is weak, knees collapse, hips twist, and shoulders compensate.

Two simple exercises done 3–4x per week can make a huge difference:

  • Plank holds (front + side) — 20–30 seconds

  • Glute bridges — 15 reps

Consistency beats intensity.

Trusted by the Pros — Team Chiropractors for the Green Bay Blizzard 🏈

As the official team chiropractors for the Green Bay Blizzard professional indoor football team, we see firsthand how small imbalances can turn into major injuries if left unchecked.

Whether it’s a high-level athlete or a young student player, the goal is always the same:

Protect the body before it breaks down.

Don’t Wait for Pain to Be the Signal

Aches, tightness, and “nagging” discomfort are your body’s early warning system. Listening early can save weeks — or even months — of downtime.

If you or your athlete want to stay in the game confidently this season, talk to your chiropractor about:

  • Posture and foot arch screenings

  • Flexibility or strength imbalances

  • Recovery strategies tailored to your sport

Strong seasons start with smart preparation. Your chiropractor is one of the best teammates you can have.

THE KLUG FAMILY

"I was so accustomed to the pain in my back that I frequently ignored it until I almost could not walk at times. A friend referred me to Frain Chiropractic, and it has made a world of difference for me! I haven’t had to feel chronic pain in my lower back and have been bringing the whole family as well for the last 2½ years, so they too can enjoy the benefits of preventative wellness, better health and less illness. We all look forward to our appointments and do not know what we would do without them!

Thank you, Drs. Frain!"
