CHIROPRACTIC TECHNOLOGY IN GREEN BAY WI

Our Green Bay WI chiropractic office does not believe in taking shortcuts. Our new patients often tell us that the exam they experience in our office is the most thorough exam of any doctor they have ever been to.

Initial evaluations consist of the following:

ADULT CHIROPRACTIC EVALUATION IN GREEN BAY, WI

1. Thorough health history and consultation: This guides our entire evaluation, helping us to decide which tests we need to perform to determine the CAUSE of your health concern..

2. MyoVision Thermography Scan: Learn more in below sections

3. MyoVision ScanVision Exam: Learn more in below sections

4. Gentle Palpation: Chiropractors spend years developing their sense of touch to carefully evaluate the bones, muscles and joints to determine whether they are functioning properly.

5. X-rays: X-rays are a vital part of your examination. Would you ask a mechanic to figure out what is wrong with your engine, without looking under the hood? For our pregnant moms, a digital posture scan may be used in place of x-ray.

6. Digital Foot Scan (when necessary): Learn more in below sections

7. Orthopedic/Neurological Examination: As needed, based on your unique health concern.

MYOVISION: FROM NASA, TO THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH, TO YOU!

From NASA, to the National Institutes of Health, to you! In the 1980s, NASA researcher, David Marcarian, looked for a way to evaluate muscle fatigue experienced by astronauts when using the simulator. As a result of his research and work with surface Electromyography (sEMG), a new hand controller was developed, resulting in a decrease in fatigue.

Years later, Oregon chiropractor, Dr. William Mcllvaine, challenged Marcarian to find a way to apply this technology to chiropractic, in an effort to better detect and monitor muscle tension patterns associated with subluxations, a common nerve problem associated with the spine.

Marcarian accepted the challenge. Developed under a prestigious NIH Grant, MyoVision is the result of thousands of hours of research and development, and clinical application in areas from healthcare to sports medicine. With over 80 patents, innovation has driven the success of MyoVision since it’s inception in 1989, and is 100% American made.

WHAT IS THE MYOVISION EXAM?

Your MyoVision Exam consists of two scans: Infrared Thermography and sEMG.

WHAT IS INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY?

Infrared thermography is equipment that utilizes infrared energy emitted from the body, converts it to temperature, and displays a color image of the temperature in your spine.

HOW IS INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY USED?

Have you ever sprained an ankle? A sprained ankle will often swell up with inflammation. Inflammation increases the circulation in the injured area, which increase the temperature in that area. A similar thing happens when you have a subluxation (misalignment) in the spine. This scan allows us to see if there is active inflammation occurring in your spine, which can create pressure on the delicate nerves that go to every tissue and cell in your body.

WHAT IS THE SCANVISION EXAM?

The ScanVision utilizes technology similar to the EKG. Instead of measuring heart muscle patters, we measure the muscular compensation about the spine. The ScanVision Scanning sEMG exam is an electronic form of palpation (ie, touch), providing an objective means of quantifying an important measure of spinal health. The exam takes only a couple of minutes.

WHY IS MUSCLE ACTIVITY IMPORTANT?

Muscles compensate for pain and/or spinal subluxation by tensing up to brace and guard. The MyoVision objectively documents this pattern of muscular guarding, establishing need for care and tracking progress over time.

WHAT DO THE RESULTS MEAN?

Colors indicate level of tension, with green, pink, red and yellow corresponding with average, moderately high, high and very low readings respectively. The percent difference displayed is the difference between left and right sides at the level measured, with arrows pointing the direction of imbalance. Both very high (red) and very low (yellow) readings are significant. High readings (red) are typically seen in the acute phase of spinal subluxation or injury, while very low readings (yellow) are commonly seen when muscles are in a chronic state of fatigue.

HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO YOUR HEALTH?

Just as blood pressure cuff is used to track your cardiovascular health, the MyoVision is used to track your spinal health. The data helps determine the proper course of care and track your progress over time.

WHAT IS THE EP STRESS SCORE?

The Electrophysiological (EP) Stress Score is calculated by adding up all muscle activity readings for both left and right sides at all levels of the spine. This sum of all muscle activity about the spine provides a baseline measurement for which all subsequent readings are compared. This allows us to track your progress over time with a simple single number. This number means very little on its own. The first reading is used to create a baseline. All subsequent readings are compared with the baseline for the purpose of tracking progress.

Elevated EP Stress Score readings on a first exam are associated with the acute state of subluxation and/or spinal health. Readings typically will drop after 4-6 weeks of care. Low EP Stress Score readings on a first exam are associated with a chronic problem, with muscles in a state of fatigue. Expect your EP Stress Score to increase, as muscles begin to fire more normally. Since no one lives static lives, expect your EP Stress Score to reflect your activities of daily living. Everything from sitting at the computer too long to playing sports will impact your score.

ARE THESE TESTS PAINFUL?

Not at all. It is non-invasive and does not cause pain or irritation. This makes it safe for children, pregnant women and seniors. It simply requires the placement of small electrodes against the skin.

DIGITAL FOOT SCAN

Are your feet healthy? Flat feet or foot imbalances can lead to foot pain, knee pain, hip pain, back pain, and even shoulder pain. Our scanner takes 17 infrared measurements of your feet to come up with your individual assessment. Following a foot scan, a report will provide you a Pronation/Stability Index, a Foot Assessment, and a Body Assessment.

DIGITAL FOOT SCAN

The Optimal Foot

This image shows what the optimal foot looks like. The red areas represent where pressure on your foot should be – your toes, the balls of your foot, and heel. However, 99% of feet do not look like this.

The Flat Foot

This image shows what flat feet look like on the scanner. In this example, all three arches of the foot have collapsed. Once your arches collapse it throws the rest of your body off-kilter when you move, putting you at a higher risk for pain. This includes pain in the feet, knees, hips, back, and neck.

YOUR BODY

The body assessment image shows how imbalances in the feet can lead to knee rotation, pelvic tilt and shoulder drop. These imbalances in the body can be caused by pronation and supination of the foot.

These instabilities can lead to conditions such as plantar fasciitis, knee pain, hip pain, back pain, and neck pain.

A properly aligned body will have symmetrical feet, level knees, pelvis and shoulders. Wearing Custom Orthotics may help alleviate imbalances and conditions caused by those imbalances.

ARE DIGITAL POSTURE SCANS JUST FOR KIDS?

Absolutely not! Digital Posture Scans are a great tool for adults as well. It can help us monitor improvements in posture as a result of care, without taking new x-rays every few months. It can also help us visualize what your spine looks like if you are unable to have x-rays taken, such as in pregnancy.

THE KLUG FAMILY

"I was so accustomed to the pain in my back that I frequently ignored it until I almost could not walk at times. A friend referred me to Frain Chiropractic, and it has made a world of difference for me! I haven’t had to feel chronic pain in my lower back and have been bringing the whole family as well for the last 2½ years, so they too can enjoy the benefits of preventative wellness, better health and less illness. We all look forward to our appointments and do not know what we would do without them!

Thank you, Drs. Frain!"
